Let’s Talk About the Janome Horizon Memory Craft 9450QCP
September 14, 2022
If you are thinking about purchasing a new sewing and quilting machine we would like to introduce you to the Janome Horizon Memory Craft 9450QCP. This is not a new release machine but one that we hold in high regard for patchwork and quilters. The Horizon Memory Craft 9450QCP is our top of the line Janome Quilting model, it offers all the features you require to simply sit, relax and sew. With a sewing speed of 1060 stitches per minute this machine can really fly through your quilting.
Some sewing machines are now designed to assist patchwork and quilters with features and equipment included to assist us with our quilting. This is most certainly the case with the MC9450QCP.
There are many ‘must have features’ to consider now when buying a machine as a quilter. One feature we really recommend when buying a sewing machine for quilting is a wide work space. The MC9450QCP has an 11″ work space. This helps with having room to navigate your quilt through the space when quilting. As you know quilts can be quite bulky so having the extra space really helps when machine quilting. In addition to the wide space this machine also comes with a wide extension table. I use this all the time as I like to sew on a flat surface – especially for applique.
Having the Pivot Function in a machine in our opinion is a ‘must have’. This means when you stop sewing your needle will stay in your work and the foot will raise automatically, this will enable you to straighten up your work without having to reach through to the back of your machine to lift and lower the foot. So this feature gives you ‘hands on’ sewing’.
Of course we can’t live without our needle threaders. This machine has a push down easy to use needle threader.
Lighting is very important. The MC9450QCP not only has good lighting underneath the machine but it also has a pull out light at the front of the machine, shining light directly onto the area that you are working on.
Many of us quilters are now using ruler work to quilt our quilts. The MC9450QCP has a ruler work function built into the machine and the rulerwork foot is included in the accessories. You can also purchase the Janome ruler work starter pack.
If you are not using ruler work you will really appreciate the AcuFeed™ Flex Layered Fabric Feeding System. This enables your work to feed with ease. This is an essential feature when quilting your own work.
The Janome Horizon MC9450QCP features a large LCD colour touch screen making it so easy to navigate through the 350 built-in stitches, including 11 one-step buttonholes and 9 alpha numeric fonts including 9mm lettering and numbers. You can customise each stitch including buttonholes plus save as a favourite stitch. With stitch designs up to 9mm wide.
Sewing Applications gives you a variety of pre-set stitch functions for seaming, zipper sewing, blind hem, button sewing, quilting, ruler work, patchwork, applique and lots more.
How frustrating is it when you are quilting along and you find out that your bobbin ran out? No need to worry about this anymore, the Janome MC9450QCP has an upper thread sensor and a bobbin sensor to let you know when thread is running low.
Save up to 40 created stitches directly in the machine memory.
A new safety feature, the machine will automatically power off after a pre-set time, if idle.
This machine comes with 21 standard feet and 3 needle plates.
Sometimes we just need to design our own stitches – using the Stitch Composer stitch creation program you can design original decorative stitches from scratch, using the Standard Stitch Composer software. It’s easier
than ever, and you can use your new creation just like a built-in-stitch, altering length and width and adding it to combinations. Compatible with Windows only. This software comes with the machine.
So to sum it all up, this machine is a solid work horse that offers you all of the general sewing and quilting features you need.
