John Thorpe performs repairs and servicing on-site at the shop even if you didn’t purchase it from Bellarine Sewing Centre. We do not service and repair all makes and models of sewing machines, please contact us to check if we can service your brand prior to bringing the machine in. You can feel confident in John’s abilities as he has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry and is an authorised warranty repair technician for Brother.
Sewing and patchwork classes
Sewing is a terrific hobby, many find it therapeutic and relaxing, while providing a creative outlet. Bellarine Sewing Centre runs a variety of sewing classes in Geelong, including patchwork classes, for beginners through to more experienced sewers. What a great @brotheraustralia Made to Quilt! Carolyn came to visit while we had two classes run on Brother machines in store. A ScanNcut class where students are learning to make an entire quilt using this machine and an in depth training on the MyDesign Snap app and its functionality with machines.

As you saw yesterday we have Sonya from @sohmo_au in store on Saturday 15 February to showcase her incredible products. Here`s a word from her ahead of her visit.
"I’m Sonya, and I started SOHMO in Melbourne, Australia in 2018. Prior to that, I was sewing quilts and soft toys for gifts as my friends had babies. I was using scissors and pins that I’d accumulated over the years, but they were kinda ‘meh’. I really wanted some sewing tools that were great quality and a little bit luxe. I had a look around, but I couldn’t find anything that was quite right.
That sparked my journey to create a collection of sewing tools that were high quality, and a little bit special - after all, sewing is less of a necessity these days, and more a relaxing pastime. It was also important to me that our packaging was minimal and useful.
The search for the perfect scissors lead me to Italy, where I found a company that has been hand crafting quality scissors for generations. In 2018, I launched SOHMO with our signature 8” Tailoring Shears, and just three tins of pins.
From there, SOHMO has grown exponentially. Each sewing tool we release is useful, and packaged in something I’d love to have on display in my sewing room.
Our Glass Head Pins that we launched with have become a cult fave amongst the Australian sewing community, and our Entomology Pins are a close second.
